The Guest

A thief comes in the night

To scrub your baseboards

And water your succulents

She folds your laundry

And kisses your children

It’s unclear what is missing

A stroke of good luck and

Your left side becomes

An uncooperative slab of meat

In the hour it takes you now

To walk two blocks with a cane

Sidewalk grease stains begin to sing

In new concrete

One ginkgo leaf

Has left a self-portrait
