Erika Lutz (she/they) is a heart-centered artist, educator, and storyteller dedicated to the care of the natural world and the wilderness within. Erika’s current body of work is focused on cultivating community resilience through restorative experiences and spellbinding. Through her storytelling work for the Good Fire Alliance and All Hands Ecology’s Fire Forward program, Erika functions as a community liaison by documenting the experiences and effects of fire practitioners for the fire commons. Following the Glass Fire, she worked with Santa Rosa residents in the burn scar to rebuild their sense of place and belonging through co-creating a community mural, Into the Fireshed (2024). An Emmy Award-winner for design and direction of kids toys, educational games, and broadcast television, Erika’s work has evolved into mutual aid and emergent service design. Their integrated arts program, See You on the Other Side (2021), was recognized by the Press Democrat and NPR for supporting social and emotional well-being of alt-ed teen students in Sonoma County. Erika's arts and cultural work with Kimzin Creative, Journey to the Future (2023) and Dreamscapes (2025), has been internationally recognized by Anthem Awards for community engagement and placemaking. Erika lives in Forestville, a real and fictionalized place on unceded Southern Pomo land now known as Sonoma County, California.
